Merging Worlds: Jimmy Iovine Says "Music Will Lose Its Value" If We Don't Innovate

“if we don’t fix the distribution of music, we run the risk of music being sent out into the world in such an uninspired way that music loses its value…”

Those are words from record label mogul and Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine as he accepted the SFTB  award at Diddy’s Revolt Music Conference.

He sheds light on technology and music merging together but also shares how the music industry was so behind when the digital revolution hit that “third parties” had to bring the industry up to speed, saying the distribution system is “sterile” and “not compelling enough for the young generation”.

While some skeptics may say that he is apart of those “third parties” the industry had to run to, Iovine does raise a valid point that has affected the business of music and the creators of music tremendously. Everyone took a blow financially!

We can’t knock him for figuring it out and being ahead of the curve.

He and Dr. Dre’s new venture is to empower the millennials by creating the avant-garde Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy at USC.
