From FOX26: TSU graduate Tami LaTrell’s life was changed by the beautiful, incomparable, majestic singer who was known as the “Queen of Pop.”

“She touched my life to the point where there’s no one that can take that away from me,” LaTrell said. “I actually connected with someone as iconic as Whitney Houston. It’s just a tragic loss.”

Before LaTrell graduated Texas Southern University, Houston bought a song that LaTrell wrote and used it on her album, “Just Whitney”. The song is called “Whatchulookinat”.

“I was definitely able to benefit from that song,” LaTrell said. “The project went platinum. With that it opened up so many opportunities for me. I got a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing then I put myself through college. Her voice was like, if I could imagine what angels would sound like, especially when she hit those high notes. I mean it did something to your spirit. You just get chills.”
