06 Jan How My 2016 Ended + Goals For 2017
Howdy 🙂
It took me forever to write my farewell to 2016 because towards the end of the year, things went haywire and I totally was not ready!!
So you may have come to my site and noticed that it was down or “suspended”…well I got hacked 3 times in November and December!!
I didn’t know malware hackers are taking over blogs and websites in the states and its becoming an epidemic!! But could this not happen at the worst time of my life? I literally just launched my redesigned site in October, started my workshops back up in November and then this!! I felt so violated lol.
So after getting it fixed by these guys —->WPHACKEDHELPÂ literally a few days ago, I’m trying to play catch up and get back to doing my videos and workshops.
Looking back I realized that I did knock a lot of things off my list and did better than I thought:
- I posted 3 songwriter blogs
- Spoke at my alma mater’s law school
- Got placements on Monica, SWV, The Range, Malachiae and Rotimi
- Launched this website (of course)
- Wrote my first e-book
- Held my first songwriter workshop in Atlanta
I have to be honest, my ambition causes me to overthink like I’m not doing enough sometimes. I’m extremely hard on myself (than I probably should be).
It’s been over 15 years now in the music industry yet I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface! (maybe because I started so young?) and so with that I’m sitting here reviewing my goals from 2016 and adding to the new ones for 2017 with the clearest intention to push beyond those “invisible” limits that I may have set for myself.
I’m big on personal growth and cultivating my inner power but to attain this, I strongly believe you have to allow yourself to experience life’s successes and challenges and take whats necessary from them to learn and grow. (Did I mention it makes for great songs! lol)
So from that I’ve learned from 2016 to:
- love and accept who I am unapologetically
- celebrate the good more than the bad
- do more reflecting on my self and happiness and try to stay in that feeling 🙂
- take full responsibility for every area of my life and my decisions
- take care of my self, being aware of my needs and desires
- have courage and trust my discernment (major key!)
With that being said I don’t feel too bad about being hard on myself!
I can appreciate how being this way pushes me closer to my destiny because I just want to freaking win in all areas of my life.
Here’s my goals for 2017:
- Do more workshops of course 🙂
- Get 12 placements (this means work!!)
- Get nominated for a GRAMMY (or two!)
- Sign more writers and producers to my publishing company and launch my pub company website
- Strengthen my career as a music executive, network more and close a few more deals
- Speak on more panels
- Do a songwriter workshop for high school and college students
- Go somewhere tropical and fancy for my birthday! lol
- Create more courses to help you!
What are some of your goals for the new year? I would love to hear them!
What would you like me to do more of?
Let’s set the agenda to push through the limits. Lets think creatively BIGGER! Let’s trust God MORE! Let’s think the IMPOSSIBLE!! Let’s take chances in 2017 and leave no room for regrets!
